Cool Tech: The Tesla Model 3

Cool Technology

At Mimo Monitors, we love innovators and companies who push the limits of technology, and we’re proud to be in the same class of innovation. After years of anticipation, it’s finally been unveiled. The Tesla Model 3 has left the automotive and tech world rubbing their eyes in awe and wonder. This car combines sleek, sexy elegance with cutting edge technology that would make it climb straight to the top of anyone’s wish list – at an affordable price tag. It goes beyond bells and whistles by combining eco-friendly engineering with heart-pumping design. Let’s take a closer look.

Touchscreen

Tesla is always pushing the envelope – and that includes the new Model 3. Sliding into the driver’s seat, you might feel a bit confused at first. As you glance around the interior you won’t be greeted with the standard automotive gismos and gadgets.

There are no air vents, no buttons, gauges or instruments. Instead, you’ll be greeted by a 15” touchscreen monitor that will house them all - or at least, that’s what the prototype insists. So from gears to stereo to climate control – it’ll all be accessed via a widescreen monitor placed on the dash, midway between the steering wheel and glove box. This all-encompassing touch-only technology is the first of its kind in the automotive industry, which is no surprise for the Tesla name.

Autopilot

One of the most talked about features of this snazzy car is the autopilot feature that will be available even for basic models starting at $35,000. Elon Musk, the visionary CEO behind the brand, explained during the unveiling that the car will be equipped with autopilot hardware and have safety features like emergency braking as standard features. This feature allows Tesla cars to steer themselves, change lanes, avoid obstacles, and even park.

Although this autopilot will come as a standard feature, full-on autopilot that utilizes high-definition mapping data and refined algorithms for changing lanes and self-park would come at an extra cost.

Performance

With this fully electric designed car, Tesla was still able to maintain its reputation on peak performance. The Model 3 can go from 0-60 in less than six seconds. The base model has a 215 mile range, which more than doubles the distance of what you would get from any other electric vehicle on the market today. Tesla of course, is also promising a drastic increase in charging stations to meet the increasing demands, aiming to reach 7,200 superchargers and 15,000 destination chargers available by the end of 2017.

The bottom line is that no matter what the opinions are on the unveiling of Model 3, Tesla has indisputably reawakened the concept of the electric vehicle. By combining the striking style and performance that Tesla is renowned for, with high-end innovative technology and electric engineering that isn’t usually available to the masses - a whole new chapter in the automotive industry may have just begun. And it’s no surprise that the Tesla brand is leading the way.

Mimo Monitors is also excited to push the limits and develop technology solutions for businesses and consumers. We are forever staying ahead of the changing needs of the market to better serve you and your business needs.
