DSE 2018 Recap: The CEO Perspective and Media Buzz

Mimo Monitors recently returned from the 2018 Digital Signage Expo (DSE), the premier event in the industry, where we showcased our new Adapt-IQV and introduced our new CMO, Michael Campagna. DSE is the ideal opportunity to see what’s next in innovative solutions for digital signage and discover insights on trends, challenges, and industry best practices. While several members of our team attended, our Founder and President, David Anderson, breaks down the trade show in more detail below.

Q&A with David Anderson

What was your overall impression of this year’s event?

Although the show seemed to have a bit less traffic, I was encouraged by the quality of connections we made. The attendees who visited us had a plan and a vision and were eager to see how our products could make that happen.

Were there particular products attendees wanted to know more about?

The products that received the most attention were our Android tablets. The Android is gaining much popularity as an all-in-one, standalone digital signage. Our Androids are unique in that we have a variety of sizes from 7” up to 21.5”. We also offer complementary features like power over Ethernet (PoE) and side LEDs.

What trends did you see at the show?

One interesting trend I noticed was many of our software and hardware partners are moving to smaller format displays. The trend for most of the past decade has been bigger. The market is changing, though, with many brands looking for interactive, personalized experiences that work best with small touchscreens.

How does attending events like this help you prepare for Mimo’s future?

The conversations and feedback we received at the event will help us as we innovate and add new capabilities. We had many attendees ask about outdoor touchscreen features, which has led us to consider adding high brightness displays that would fill this need. Much of this interest around outdoor kiosks revolved around the smart city concept.
